Threat to kill charge is withdrawn at court

Ballymena Court

A Ballymena man who had been accused of making a threat to kill a man has had the charge withdrawn.

Gary Mairs (43), of Carndale Meadows, had been charged in relation to April 8 this year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday it was heard the defendant was pleading not guilty to three charges he had faced.

The prosecutor then said the threat to kill charge was being withdrawn.

The defendant denies the two other charges he still faces in relation to April 8 – including sending by means of a public electronic communications network a message, or other matter, that was of a ‘menacing character’.

He has also pleaded not guilty to being disorderly at Carndale Meadows.

The defendant’s legal representative was barrister Stephen Law.

The case has been adjourned to June 20 to fix a date for a contest.
