TRAFFIC was held up after a fight in the early hours of the morning spilled over onto a road in Ballymena town centre.

Alexander Mark McGarry (32), a storeman, with an address listed as Rosemount in Cloughmills, has admitted being disorderly at Ballymoney Street.

Ballymena Magistrates Court, on Thursday, was told that at 12.30am on February 3 this year police responded to a report of an ongoing fight .

One male had blood coming from his nose and an intoxicated McGarry had a small cut to his lip.
CCTV showed that the fight spilled out onto the road stopping motorists.

Defence solicitor Ciaran Shiels said it was a “bout of fisticuffs”and his client was “far too old for this sort of behaviour”.

Fining the defendant £300, District Judge Nigel Broderick told McGarry: “You are getting a bit long in the tooth now for this behaviour.”
