Uninsured driver claims he was only moving car a short distance because of ‘riot’

Ballymena Court

A MAN who was uninsured at the wheel of a car claimed he was only moving it from the roadway into a driveway at Ballymena’s Ballykeel estate because there had been a “riot”, the town’s Magistrates Court heard.

Adrian Josef Kobylarczyk (31), of Millfield in Ballymena, was spotted in a Volkswagen Golf by police at 1.40am on October 26 this year at Orkney Drive.

The defendant pleaded guilty to using a vehicle without insurance and a driving licence offence.

He told police the vehicle had been parked on the road by his father who had gone to Poland for a week.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant was given six penalty points and fined £300.
