Uninsured driver said he was ‘taking woman to toilet’

A court heard a claim that a man got behind the wheel of a woman’s car after she said she needed to go to the toilet and he said he knew where there were facilities.

Dominic Gledhill (30), of Middlepark Road in Cushendall was uninsured and had no licence.
He was detected at the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf at Crankill Road near Ballymena on April 4 this year.

Also in the car was the vehicle owner – Donna Carson (30), of Blackpark Cottages, Ballyvoy.

She was insured to drive the vehicle which was first spotted by police in the area of Waveney Tyres near Ballymena.

She pleaded guilty to permitting no insurance and licence.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court both defendants were given six penalty points. Gledhill was fined £400 and Carson £250.
