A man caught driving a Volkswagen Golf without insurance said he was taking it for a test drive after it had been off the road with a view to getting it through the MOT.
Macauley Pollard (25), of Lanntara, Ballymena, had offences detected at Antrim Road on April 10 this year.
At Ballymena Magistrates Court he pleaded guilty to charges of using a vehicle without insurance and not having MOT.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the vehicle was seized.
The defendant was given six penalty points and fined £250. He had previous penalty points and it meant he was banned from driving for six months.
