Vehicle being driven ‘slowly’ in Ballymena attracts attention of police

A CAR attracted the attention of police as it was being driven ‘slowly’ at 2am in the centre of Ballymena and officers then detected insurance, MOT and licence offences.

Ionut George Toader (24), of Hill Street in the town, was in a Renault car on July 6 this year at North Road which was being driven slowly, overly cautiously and was braking excessively.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Ballymena Magistrates Court the defendant, a Romanian, came to Northern Ireland a year ago to start a “new life” and he had bought the car to learn to drive and was being “overly cautious”.

The defendant was banned from driving for two months and fined £500.
