A WOMAN caught drink driving in Coleraine town centre was more than twice the legal limit.
Sinead McLaughlin (44), of Glengall Park, Coleraine, admitted driving with excess alcohol at Hanover Place on January 11 this year.
She also admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath for a preliminary test.
However, a subsequent test found she had an alcohol in breath reading of 81 – the legal limit is 35.
A prosecutor told Coleraine Magistrates Court on March 16 when officers spoke to the defendant she smelt strongly of intoxicating liquor, she was slurring her words and she was unsteady on her feet.
A defence lawyer said the defendant had shown “a complete and utter lack of judgment” after taking drink on top of a “cocktail of medication” and was “embarrassed” at what happened.
The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £400.
