A WOMAN carrying a ‘wooden truncheon’ who attacked and chased two people out of Anderson Park in Coleraine has been jailed for four months.
Nicole McBride (27), of Foundry Court in Coleraine, admitted offences including assaults, possession of an offensive weapon and making a threat to kill in relation to June last year.
A prosecutor told Coleraine Magistrates Court that at 1am on June 29 last year police received a report of an assault when two people were struck.
The defendant later denied the offence to police saying she was in the Republic of Ireland with a friend at the time of the incident.
Defence barrister Alan Stewart told the court the defendant had a “transient lifestyle” at the time and said although she had not adopted a frank attitude with police she was now pleading guilty.
He said injuries included a small gash to the side of the head, a split lip and a damaged tooth and the other person received a black eye.
