An estate agent caught doing 100mph in a 70mph zone on the Frosses Road near Cloughmills was late for a ‘viewing’, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard.

Daniel George Simpson (30), of Knockbracken Court in Coleraine, was detected on September 24 this year.

The defendant told police: “I’m sorry, I apologise, I know I was speeding”.

Defence barrister Amy Campbell said the estate agent was travelling to a property for a “viewing” to meet a client who didn’t have a mobile phone.

She said he had panicked as he was running late.

Banning the defendant from the road for a month along with a £300 fine, District Judge Nigel Broderick said: “Time and time again I say these speeds are unacceptable”.
