Extra tickets will be made available for fans to attend Ballymena United’s Boxing Day derby with Coleraine, Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is pleased to announce.
Council officials met with Ballymena United and PSNI representatives last week to discuss the possibility of extra tickets for the hotly anticipated game.
Today, it has been confirmed that 288 additional tickets are being made available, following the granting of a safety certificate for the increased capacity at Ballymena Showgrounds.
Councillor Timothy Gaston said: “This is one of the biggest matches in the sporting calendar locally.
“With Ballymena United flying high at the top of the league, local supporters are even more excited ahead of the derby with their Coleraine neighbours.
“Tickets for Ballymena fans sold out in a very short space of time and I have been working closely with Council officers and the Chief Executive to push for more tickets to be made available.
“I’m delighted that those discussions have concluded with a great result for local football fans.
“We can now look forward to Ballymena United delivering another great result on the pitch come Boxing Day.”
