Police with a search warrant forced their way into a house in Ballycastle when no one was at home and found cannabis and tablets.

Later, when spoken to by officers, Chantelle Morgan (23), of Leyland Drive, Ballycastle, admitted the drugs were hers.

She was at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday June 18 for sentencing on charges of possessing cannabis and possession of Diazepam relating to the discovery on March 9 this year.

The court heard there was 14 grammes of herbal cannabis, 17 lyrica tablets and eight diazepam tablets with an estimated street value of £150.

The defendant told police they were for her own personal use.

Defence solicitor Garrett Greene said his client was “honest and candid” with police.

He said she is on a waiting list to see the Community Addictions Team.

Imposing a three months jail term, suspended for a year, District Judge Nigel Broderick noted it was Morgan’s fifth conviction for drugs offences.
