Ballymena man denies stealing £40 worth of meat from town supermarket

Ballymena Magistrates Court

A Ballymena man has pleaded not guilty to stealing meat worth £40 from the ‘Iceland’ supermarket in the town.

Sherman Wright (46), of Devenagh Way, is alleged to have committed the offence on May 20 this year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday it was heard the meat allegation is a new charge.

An original charge of burglary with intent to steal at ‘Iceland’ on the same date has been withdrawn.

Defence barrister Stephen Law said the case is to be contested.

The case was adjourned to July 5 to fix a date for a contest.

The accused was released on continuing bail which bans him entering the ‘Iceland’ store.
