A Ballymena man has been given a five months jail term, suspended for a year, for harassing a woman, including a “domestic” incident when he went to her place of work at a Chinese takeaway in the town.

Gary Mairs (42), of Carndale Meadows, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Defence barrister Stephen Law said the defendant is “now absent from alcohol”.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said the incident happened 15 months ago.
