Ballymena man is accused of having three knives and attempting to rob Fred Funk store four days before Christmas

A Ballymena man accused of have three knives as offensive weapons and the attempted robbery of money from the Fred Funk store in the town four days before Christmas has been further remanded in custody.

Ciaran McKeown (24), with an address at Glenravel Park, is also charged with the attempted theft of clothing worth £255 from TK Maxx in the town on the same date – December 21.

He is also accused of having a set of nail clippers for use in burglary or theft on December 21.

The defendant faces a fifth charge – that on December 23 he had a magnetic strip for use in burglary or theft.

He appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on January 3 via video link from Maghaberry Prison and the case was adjourned to January 17.
