A Ballymena man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of burglary with intent to steal at the ‘Iceland’ supermarket in the town.

Sherman Wright (46), of Devenagh Way, is alleged to have committed the offence on May 20 this year.

The defendant appeared in the dock at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday June 14.

A police officer said he believed he could connect the accused to the charge.

The defendant, whose legal representative was solicitor John McAtamney, is contesting the charge.

The accused was released on his own bail of £500 until the end of June.

As part of the bail he is banned from entering the ‘Iceland’ store in Ballymena.
