A Ballycastle man driving a Citroen Berlingo despite being banned from the road crashed into a stationary bin lorry.
Jack Carson (19), of Carnduff Park, admitted driving without due care and attention at Hillside Road near Ballycastle on August 17 last year.
He also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified; absence of insurance and failing to report a damage only accident.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court on January 7, defence barrister Thomas McKeever said his client had a “severe lack of consequential thinking”.
Deputy District Judge Pete Magill said the defendant was in “extreme jeopardy” as he was previously given suspended jail terms.
He adjourned the case to January 21 saying Carson was potentially looking at a sentence of at least six months.
