A care assistant who was not insured to use a Peugeot in which he was caught speeding thought that because he had comprehensive insurance on another vehicle it would cover him to drive other cars, third party.

However, according to solicitor Emma McCann, who was representing Mason James Robert Henry (24), of Brookfield Gardens, Ahoghill, because the defendant was under 25 that was not the case.

He was caught doing 48mph in a 30mph zone at Dans Road, Ballymena, on June 1 this year.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday August 9 District Judge Nigel Broderick imposed nine penalty points and a £310 fine.
