Carnlough teenager pleads guilty to possessing indecent photos of children and now has to sign sex offenders’ register

A Carnlough teenager has pleaded guilty to possessing indecent photos of children and will now have to sign the sex offenders’ register.

Michael McCollum (19) admitted a total of 21 charges including ten of possessing indecent photos of a child; five of making indecent photos of a child; three of possessing a prohibited image of a child and three of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

The charges relate to dates unknown between July 1, 2009 and 2014.

At Antrim Crown Court on Friday guilty pleas were entered.

The defendant is on continuing bail and the case has been adjourned ahead of sentencing.

The length of time he will be placed on the sex offenders register has yet to be determined.
