A woman who denied allegations of “ill-treating” four patients receiving treatment for mental illness at a former care home has had the charges she faced withdrawn without prejudice.
Freda Boyd, (53), of Drumeen Drive, Garvagh, had faced four charges that, in March 2014, whilst being an ‘officer on the staff of, or otherwise employed’ in Garvagh Care Home, she ‘ill-treated’ two men and two women ‘receiving treatment’ for mental illness as in-patients.
Ms Boyd had previously entered not guilty pleas to all the charges.
Last year, defence solicitor Garrett Greene said he was applying to prosecutors to review the decision to bring charges.
At Coleraine Magistrates Court, on Monday, a prosecution lawyer said all the charges were being “withdrawn without prejudice”.
