‘Comedy of errors’ blamed for driver being uninsured

A “comedy of errors”, according to a defence solicitor, meant a man was uninsured to drive.

Sebastian Capo (28), of Clarence Street in Ballymena, had the offence detected at Larne Road Link in the town.

The offence came to light on June 8 this year when he told police he had a “quote from Go Compare”.

A defence solicitor said his client, a Romanian national, had tried to pay £65 by card for the first instalment of insurance and when it didn’t go through he asked a friend and it didn’t go through either.

It was a “comedy of errors,” the lawyer added.

He said the defendant has now got rid of the vehicle.

The defendant was given six penalty points and fined £300.
