COUNCILLORS have been told they are not allowed to take rates estimates discussion papers out of council buildings.

Glarryford TUV councillor Timothy Gaston told the monthly meeting of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council he was unhappy and that he would like councillors to be able to take the papers home for perusal.

Council Chief Executive Anne Donaghy said councillors could look at them in council offices and even come in before meetings to go through the papers – but they would not be allowed to take them away.

“I have to have some form of governance around the papers so this is my way of ensuring that that is maintained,” said Ms Donaghy.
