A man has been accused of throwing a child’s scooter shattering a car window and allegedly saying: “You are f**king dead, wait until I get you out of that house”.
Jonathan Kane (29), of Oakvale Park, Coleraine, appeared at the town’s Magistrates Court on August 6 charged with criminal damage and making a threat to kill a man the previous day.
During a bail application a police officer said that at 8pm on August 5 the PSNI was tasked to a report of an ongoing disturbance at Oakvale Park and that a man claimed the defendant came to the address and threw the scooter and made the threat.
The defendant made off but was located by police.
The officer told the court: “There doesn’t appear to be any reason for the attack, we don’t know what sparked this off”.
Defence barrister Francis Rafferty said there had been a “dispute” which had caused “things to blow up”.
The defendant was released on his own bail of £250 and he is barred from contacting the alleged injured party.
Kane was bailed to an address elsewhere in Coleraine and is also barred from entering Ballysally and from being on a number of roads around the perimeter of the estate.
The case was adjourned to August 20.
