Drink driver ‘thought it best to remove car from Ballymena town centre as it was the weekend’

A defence solicitor for a man caught drink driving said his client was originally going to leave his car overnight in Ballymena town centre but because it was the weekend he then thought it best to remove it.

Orrin Waring (28), of Drumtara, had pulled out in front of a police vehicle at Waveney Road causing the PSNI driver to brake at 1.30am on Saturday September 22 this year.

Police spoke to the defendant and he had an alcohol/breath reading of 69 with the legal limit being 35.

The defendant pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol in his breath and at Ballymena Magistrates Court on October 25 he was banned from the road for a year and fined £200.
