A MAN on his way to a supermarket crashed into a sign at the Galgorm Road in Ahoghill.
Shaun Dougan (34), of Ballynafie Road, Portglenone, crashed on August 11 this year, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard on Thursday.
When police arrived the defendant had left the scene but a witness gave the number plate.
Police discovered the vehicle was insured to the defendant and when they spoke to him he made full admissions.
He pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention.
Other charges of failing to stop, remain and report a damage-only accident were withdrawn.
Defence barrister Chris Sherrard said his client “simply wasn’t paying proper attention” as he was driving to Tesco.
The defendant, described in court as a furniture store worker, was given four penalty points and fined £200.
