Driver ‘pulled in to get tablets’ then passing police patrol noticed vehicle was uninsured

A driver “pulled in to get tablets” at the Finvoy Road in Rasharkin and a passing police patrol noticed she was uninsured.

Selina Mitchell (35), of Craiglea Gardens, Kilrea, had the offence detected on May 5 this year.

She also had no driving licence.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine told Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday June 18 the defendant had just bought the car and had planned to get on the road legally.

The vehicle was seized.

Judge Nigel Broderick told her: “You shouldn’t be buying cars when you don’t have the proper documentation”.
