A pitch invader at an Irish Cup Quarter-Final football match in Coleraine was, today, given a four months jail sentence, suspended for two years, and fined £300.

Glentoran fan Ryan McNab (27), of Birch Drive, Bangor, County Down, committed offences at the game between Coleraine and Glentoran, which the home side won 1-0, on Tuesday March 13 this year at Coleraine Showgrounds.

Coleraine went on to win the cup.

At Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday McNab was dealt with after pleading guilty to four charges.

The first charge was that the defendant ‘without lawful authority or lawful excuse, during the period of a regulated match, went onto the playing area, or an area adjacent to the playing area, to which spectators are not generally admitted’.

On the same date, McNab assaulted two police officers and resisted a third officer in the execution of his duty.
