It has been one of the biggest talking points of the year in Ballymena but now the town’s new bandstand is on the verge of opening.
Opinion has been divided on the new structure with its distinctive copper form certainly capturing the attention of the public.
A Mid & East Antrim Borough Council spokesman told ‘Ballymena Daily’ today: “Work is now complete on Ballymena’s iconic new bandstand, with the state-of-the-art outdoor entertainment, creativity and performance hub’s installation marking the final stage of a multi-million pound investment in the town.
“The new structure, built by a Mid and East Antrim manufacturing firm, finally provides citizens with a fit-for-purpose community space in the centre of Ballymena, with a series of free outdoor summer entertainment events being finalised by Council and its partners, including BID (Business Improvement District), to rejuvenate the town centre and drive footfall.
“It provides the ideal venue for a host of exciting events and performances aimed at showcasing up-and-coming talent from Mid and East Antrim and further afield, and promote the very best of culture and the arts in the Borough.”
