Larne’s Ayeisha McFerran has had a great tournament at the world cup.

World Cup hockey finalist Larne woman Ayeisha McFerran’s heroics in the tournament are to be marked by Mid & East Antrim Borough Council.

Ayeisha was named as the best goalkeeper in the tournament.

She also picked up a silver medal along with her Ireland team-mates who finished runners-up to the Netherlands on Sunday.

The Dutch were favourites for the final and the tag was justified as they won 6-0.

At a council meeting in Ballymena on Monday night, Mayor Lindsay Millar, said she plans to have a Mayor’s Reception for Ayeisha.

The Mayor congratulated the team and Ayeisha.
