A man who booked holidays and sent several gifts in a failed bid to rekindle a relationship with a former partner has been given a suspended jail sentence after admitting harassment.
Luke William Wise (26), of Ashlea Drive in Ballymoney, committed the harassment between September 2017 and September 20 this year.
A prosecutor told the December 17 Coleraine Magistrates Court a three year relationship ended in the summer of last year and although his former partner made it clear it was over, Wise texted her and sent her several gifts.
He booked holidays and visited her address and sent her several letters and cards and at one stage “threatened to” take his own life.
Defence barrister Thomas McKeever said when the relationship broke down his client acted in ways he normally wouldn’t have.
District Judge Liam McNally said it was “a bad case of harassment” and handed down a four months jail term, suspended for two years.
The defendant was also given a two year Restraining Order.
