
An 18-year-old Ballymena man appeared at court in the town charged with having a Samurai Sword as an offensive weapon on Boxing Day with intent to commit assault.
Stephen Williams, of Ballylesson Road, has also been charged with possessing cannabis on December 26.
A police officer believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.
A prosecution lawyer said bail could be agreed subject to conditions.
District Judge Nigel Broderick said the defendant could be released on £500 bail once an address is agreed by police.
The defendant is not to contact his mother, brother and a man.
The defendant is also barred from entering Ballylesson Road.
The court heard there were a number of people in a house at the time of an alleged incident but no other details were given.
The defendant was remanded in custody until January 24.
