Man accused of having crowbar during aggravated burglary is released on bail

A man accused of the aggravated burglary of a house in Ballymena’s Dunvale estate with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm on a male whilst having a crowbar as an offensive weapon was granted bail at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Peter Victor George Kyle (31), of Dunclug Park in Ballymena, is alleged to have committed the offence on January 19 this year.

He is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, a crow bar, with intent to commit an offence.

He had been remanded in custody when he appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on January 21.

At Ballymena Court three days later he was granted £500 bail to an address outside Ballymena to be agreed by police.

He is not to drink alcohol and is barred from Ballymena except for court appearances.

He had a 10pm-7am curfew with an electronic tag and he is to have no contact with the alleged victims, witnesses and two co-accused – a male and female.

The case was adjourned to February 21.
