Man accused of possessing a sword and attempting to rob a man of money has case further adjourned

A Ballymena man accused of having a sword as an offensive weapon with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and attempting to rob a male of money has been further remanded in custody.

Philip Bradley Douglas (20), of Princes Street, is alleged to have committed the offences on January 28 this year.

He is also charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and a further charge of assault on the alleged victim on the same date.

On Thursday, the accused appeared before Ballymena Magistrates Court via video link from Hydebank Wood College where he has been on remand.

A prosecutor said the case file has now been allocated to a directing officer.

The case was adjourned until August 30.
