Man allegedly had meat clever at shopping complex in Coleraine

A man is facing a number of charges including possessing an offensive weapon – a meat cleaver – at Coleraine’s Riverside Retail Park.

Kelvin James Kane (23), originally with an address in Portrush but whose address was listed as Ballycastle on the charge sheet, is alleged to have stolen a meat cleaver from B&M Bargains on the same date.

Also on April 9 this year he is accused of the burglary of a house at Strand Road, Coleraine; assault; taking a vehicle without authority and absence of insurance.

On Monday June 11, the defendant appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court via video link from prison.

The April 9 cases have been adjourned to June 25.
