A MAN caught with six bags of cannabis worth £120 at the Memorial Gardens in Ballymena has been jailed for two months.
Gary Ryan Hill (29), with an address at a hostel on Linenhall Street in the town, was caught with the drugs in September this year.
The Memorial Gardens are adjacent to Ballymena Police Station.
The defendant pleaded guilty to possessing Class B drugs.
A prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday that on the afternoon of September 20 officers carried out a stop and search of the defendant at the Memorial Gardens in Ballymena and six small bags of cannabis were found in his jacket pocket.
Hill admitted to police the drugs were his and said he bought them for £120.
Defence solicitor Nigel McIlrath said his client had made a full admission and the drugs were for Hill’s own use.
