A solicitor said a man was trying to get vehicle insurance but because he worked full-time he “couldn’t get in to the brokers”.
The comment was made by lawyer Stewart Ballentine at Ballymena Magistrates Court regarding Cornel Rasca (20), of Waveney Court, Ballymena.
The defendant was detected driving at 51mph at a 30mph zone at Dans Road, Ballymena, in April this year and the insurance offence then came to light.
The car – a Hyundai Coupe – was seized.
The defendant was banned from driving for two months and fined £260.
