A Ballymena man who caused more than £1,800 worth of damage to a BMW following a collision at a parking bay in the town’s Wellington Street whilst he was driving his mother’s car has been given one year’s Probation and has been banned from driving for a year.

Jordan Kenny (28), of Skye Park, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on February 7.

He admitted aggravated taking of a vehicle and causing damage; failing to stop at the scene of an accident; failing to report an accident and using a car without insurance and also pleaded guilty to a driving licence offence.

An incident happened on November 2 last year.

The court heard Kenny drove away from the scene but the collision was caught on CCTV.

A defence lawyer said there had been no aggravating features like alcohol.
