A man has been banned from driving for a month and fined £400 for using a BMW without insurance and also obstructing police.
Sean Brennan (22), a kitchen fitter of Lisheegan Road near Ballymoney, had the offences detected at Bann Road, Kilrea, on June 18 last year.
Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said his client wished to apologise for misleading police.
The solicitor said the defendant had taken the car for a test drive after it was repaired and he had panicked when he saw police.
Deputy District Judge Peter Magill said it was an “incredibly foolish set of circumstances” and he said the defendant should have “come clean with the police immediately”.
