POLICE, on Wednesday evening, said a man was in a critical collision in hospital after a road traffic collision in Bushmills today.
The Air Ambulance was tasked to Bushmills following an accident.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 2.15pm on Wednesday 2 January following reports of a collision involving a motor cycle and a car, in the Ballaghmore Road/Dunluce Road area.
NIAS despatched two Rapid Response Paramedics and an emergency crew to the scene.
The Charity Air Ambulance was also tasked to the incident.
Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, the motorcyclist was airlifted to Belfast by the NI Air Ambulance for further treatment at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Police later said the Dunluce Road in Bushmills had reopened to traffic.
They said the collision involving a car and motorcycle was reported to police at around 2.20pm.
The male motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries where, a PSNI spokesman said on Wednesday evening, his condition was described as critical
Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the Dunluce Road and who witnessed the collision to contact officers in Coleraine on 101 quoting reference 641 02/01/19.
