A MAN who damaged an electronic tag and attempted to damage two computer screens and a door at Antrim PSNI Station has been given a three months prison term, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to pay £100 compensation.

David Daniel McCorkell (37), originally of Waring Street but now living at Barra Drive in Ballymena, previously admitted charges of criminal damage and attempted criminal damage relating to an incident on March 19 this year.

Thursday’s sitting of Ballymena Magistrates Court heard the defendant had kicked a door and pushed over two computer monitors at the police station.

A defence lawyer said his client had a lengthy record and had struggled all his life with addiction problems.
