A man who admitted insurance and licence offences claimed he took to the road because he was concerned about an elderly friend after receiving a call.

Jonathan Arthur Haveron (52), of Inver Heights in Larne, had the offences detected near his home in November last year.

Defence solicitor Liam McKendry told Ballymena Magistrates Court on January 17 the defendant was involved in a “relatively short journey”.

The case was adjourned to January 31.
