A Ballymena man who pleaded guilty to being disorderly outside a pub in the centre of the town in the early hours of the morning on May 5 this year has been fined £250.

Troy Carley (21), of Orkney Drive, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A prosecutor said a number of males were involved in a a “confrontation” with door staff and when police arrived around 30 people were in the area.

The defendant was being “aggressive” and when spoken to by police he shouted and swore and called an officer a “yellow scummy b–tard”.

A defence lawyer said the defendant had a prescription for medication and “foolishly mixed it with drink”.

The lawyer said his client asked him to apologise.
