A man who assaulted his wife when a daughter was present in the room has been jailed for four months by a judge who said “domestic violence is a serious matter”.
Mariusz Macura (36), of Galgorm Road in Ballymena, committed the assault at The Traveller’s Rest on August 20.
The injured party said the defendant was verbally abusive to her before punching her to the top of her head and kicking her.
Defence barrister Neil Moore told Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday said the complainant had subsequently withdrawn her statement.
District Judge Nigel Broderick said the incident was aggravated by the fact that the defendant’s daughter was present in the room when he assaulted his wife.
