A solicitor for a Cushendall man who was disorderly outside the Spinning Mill pub in Ballymena claimed the defendant became agitated after remonstrating with another man who had punched a female reveller “straight on the nose”.

Police were on patrol at 1am on December 2 last year when they noticed a disturbance outside the bar and

Tyrone McCormick (22), of Glenville Crescent, was aggressive towards police and pushed an officer, knocking the policeman’s glasses off.

When cautioned, the defendant replied: “Well f**king done”.

Defence solicitor Ciaran Shiels said the defendant had been out for the night and began shouting at a man who had punched a woman.

When he was then warned about his own behaviour by police McCormick “lost the run of himself”.

The defendant admitted charges of disorderly behaviour and assaulting and resisting a police officer.

He was fined £200 at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.
