Two men who had drink taken when they were discovered in a Volkswagen Passat in a carpark at Ballymena’s Grove Road said one was hoping to sell the car to the other and they were on a “test drive”.
Marcin Piatek (30), of Shellinghill Road, Cullybackey, admitted driving with excess alcohol in his breath and using a vehicle without insurance and was banned for a year and fined £200.
Kamil Adam Sarnecki (29), of Dunclug Gardens, Ballymena, admitted being in charge of the vehicle with excess alcohol in breath and permitting no insurance.
He was given ten penalty points and fined £300.
The men’s solicitors at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday were Stewart Ballentine and John McAtamney.
