Minute’s silence held in Ballymena for Polish mayor who was brutally stabbed to death

A minute’s silence was held at the February monthly meeting of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council in Ballymena for a Polish mayor who died after a stabbing attack.

Local Mayor, Councillor Lindsay Millar, told councillors at The Braid Town Hall: “I was shocked and saddened to learn of the recent death of Mr PaweĊ‚ Adamowicz who was the serving mayor of Gdansk in Poland who was stabbed at a recent charity event whilst carrying out his duties.

“Such an evil attack is to be condemned and on behalf of this Council we extend our condolences and our prayers to the Mayor of Gdansk’s family at this very difficult time”.

She then asked for those present to stand for a minute’s silence.
