Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has launched a new mentor programme aimed at the community sector.
The enhanced INVOLVE EVOLVE scheme gives community and voluntary organisations the opportunity to gain support from a professional business mentor.
Mentors can provide groups with a greater range of support including health and safety, social media and marketing, human resource management, community engagement and community consultation alongside other key areas such as financial sustainability and support with large funding applications.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Chivers, who helped to launch the new scheme at Gortnaghey Community Centre outside Dungiven, said: “Our local groups play an important role in towns and villages across the Causeway Coast and Glens and this specialist support will ensure they continue to develop and grow.
“Groups will benefit from the bespoke and one-to-one nature of the programme which will be complemented by the additional post-mentor support from Council’s Community Development team.”
The programme has been well received with positive feedback from previous participants:
“…without this specialist and specific help we would have little or no idea what is required”
“Project would not have been possible without mentor”
