Police are investigating after a man allegedly assaulted two young females in Ballymena town centre.
The PSNI said they attended a report of an assault at the Meetinghouse Lane area on Wednesday 2nd January.
Sergeant Hewat said: “Shortly after 10pm it was reported that a number of female youths were in the area when an unknown male approached the area.
“It was reported that two female youths were assaulted during the incident. Their injuries are not believed to be serious. The male then made off towards the Demesne Avenue area following the incident with a sum of money.
“The man is described as wearing a red and black checked shirt, blue jeans and white trainers. Enquiries are continuing.
“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1270 2/1/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
On January 10, Ballymena PSNI posted the following on their Facebook page: ‘We want to hear from anyone who was in the area of Meetinghouse Lane around 10pm on Wednesday 2nd January.
‘Two young females were assaulted after being approached by an unknown male. He is described as wearing a grey puffy coat with the hood up, dark trousers and shoes with red soles.
‘If you can help to identify this male or can provide any information on this assault, call us on 101 quoting reference number 1270 2/1/19.’
