POLICE travelling behind a vehicle at 3.25am on September 23 at Queen Street in Ballymena noticed it cross the central white line on a number of occasions and when they spoke to the driver she was over the drink limit.

Shannon Elder (25), of Lettercreeve in Ballymena, had an alcohol in breath reading of 90 with the legal limit being 35.

The defendant was self-represented at Ballymena Magistrates Court and handed in two references.

She told the court she knew what she did was wrong.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said it was a very high reading, more than twice the limit, but he could give credit for the early guilty plea and clear record.

The defendant was banned from driving for 16 months and fined £250.
