Police found a man had a “joint” when he was stopped and searched in the Galgorm Street area of Ballymena on April 20 this year.

Luke Goligher (19), whose address was given as Castle Street, Ballymoney, appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday and was fined £150 for the offence.

The defendant pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant has been attending a GP about a drugs issue.

District Judge Nigel Broderick told the defendant: “Hopefully, you have stopped”.
