A councillor has welcomed work being carried out since the inception of the community plan ‘Putting People First’.

The strong working relationships that have been established between planning partners involved in the plan is ensuring it is ‘coming to life’.

The plan contains five themes – Sustainable Jobs and Tourism, Good Health and Wellbeing, Progress in Education, Community Safety and Cohesion and Our Environment.

Alderman May Beattie, who is Chair of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s Planning Committee, said: “I welcome all the excellent work that has been carried out to date.

“We are working very closely with the planning partners and those relationships will ensure the community is at the heart of everything we do.

“With this positive momentum we can expect a lot of great work to be carried out in the future.

“The plan maps out an exciting future for the area and all of those who live, work, and visit and do business here.

“A huge amount of work went into developing the plan and that will help us realise a strong, vibrant, safe and inclusive Mid and East Antrim.

“Putting People First safeguards and promotes Mid and East Antrim’s reputation as a proud, dynamic and ambitious place.”

The ‘Putting People First’ Community Plan is the road map for creating positive change at a strategic partnership level within the Borough.

It will be reviewed regularly to ensure the relevant issues that affect residents are being dealt with.
